Know before you go
- Dogs: leashed year-round on most sand; North Beach allows off-leash outside the summer season — check current city rules.
- Parking: metered spots fill fast on Camino del Mar; the Powerhouse Park lot and side streets go first on weekends.
- Tides: low tide opens the long walk south toward Torrey Pines — turn back before it fills in.
- Marine layer: May and June mornings are often gray and burn off by early afternoon.
